New Laws and Regulations on Immigration of Foreigners in Vietnam
On 26 June 2023, The National Assembly of Vietnam officially adopted a new Law No. 23/2023/QH 15 on amending a number of Articles on Law on Entry, exit, transit, and residence of Foreigners in Vietnam, which will take effect from 15 August 2023
In Details
Changing in the Visa’s Durations:
1. Time limits of SQ Visa do not exceed 30 days;
2. Time limits of HN, DL, and EV Visa do not exceed 90 days.
3. Time limits of VR Visa do not exceed 180 days.
4. Time limits of NG1, NG2, NG3, NG4, LV1, LV2, ĐT4, DN1, DN2, NN1, NN2, NN3, DH, PV1, PV2, TT Visa do not exceed 01 year.
Changing in The duration of temporary residence permits
For citizens of countries that are unilaterally exempted from visas by Vietnam, they shall be granted temporary residence for 45 days and shall be considered for visa grant and temporary residence extension according to the provisions of this Law;
For persons not falling into the cases specified at Points a, b, and c of Clause 1, Article 31 entering the border-gate economic zone, they shall be granted temporary residence for 15 days, and enter a special administrative-economic unit or a coastal economic zone specified in Clause 3a, Article 12 of this Law, the temporary residence will be granted for 30 days.”.
Declaration of temporary residence
Any foreigner that temporarily resides in Vietnam must, via the manager of the lodging establishment, declare their temporary residence at the local police authority. The Foreigners are required to show their passports or other relevant documents relating to a residence in Vietnam to Lodging establishments before agreeing to the foreigner’s residence.
Declaration of temporary residence can be made by Declaration Form or on the website.
In Summary
The change in the duration of Visas, especially E-Visa, and new policies for Citizens of countries that are unilaterally exempted from visas by Vietnam, will encourage Tourism to come and stay in Vietnam.
