In 2022, nearly 27.72 billion USD of foreign investment will enter Vietnam

The data has just been announced by the Foreign Investment Department (Ministry of Planning and Investment); as of December 20, 2022, the total newly registered capital, adjusted and contributed capital to buy shares, buy contributed capital of the company. Foreign investors reached nearly 27.72 billion USD, equaling 89% over the same period in 2021.

Of these, newly registered capital reached nearly 12.45 billion USD, down 18.4% over the same period; investment capital through capital contribution and share purchase reached 5.15%, down 25.2% over the same period. In contrast, adjusted capital reached nearly 10.2 billion USD, up 12.2% over the same period.

Information from the Foreign Investment Agency said that in 2022, many projects of manufacturing and manufacturing electronic and high-tech products would have large-scale capital increases.

For example, the Samsung Electro-mechanics Vietnam Project (Thai Nguyen) increased its capital twice, US$920 million and US$267 million; The project of Samsung Electronics HCMC CE Co., Ltd. increased capital by over USD 841 million… Or the project of a factory for manufacturing electronics, network equipment, and multimedia audio products in Bac Ninh, Nghe An, and Hai Phong, increased by nearly 306 million USD, 260 million USD and 127 million USD respectively…

From another perspective, the Foreign Investment Department said that newly registered investment capital decreased (down 18.4%), but the number of new investment projects increased (up 17.1%, reaching 2,036 projects) compared to the number of new investment projects in the same period in 2021. Moreover, many large Korean corporations are currently studying, researching, and planning to implement investment projects in the near future.

Notably, while the registered capital decreased, the disbursed foreign investment capital reached nearly 22.4 billion USD, up 13.5% over the same period in 2021.

Aggregate data from the Ministry of Planning and Investment also shows that in 2022, 108 countries and territories invested in Vietnam.

Singapore leads with a total investment of nearly 6.46 billion USD, accounting for 23.3% of total investment capital in Vietnam, down 39.7% over the same period in 2021. South Korea ranks second with nearly four .88 billion USD, down 1.5% over the same period.

Japan has risen to third place with a total registered investment capital of more than 4.78 billion USD, accounting for nearly 17.3% of total investment capital, up 22.7% over the same period, after the Factory Project Quang Ninh LNG Power Plant was granted a new investment registration certificate, with a total investment of nearly 2 billion USD.
